"Mindset, self-belief, and confidence are important in all walks of life, perhaps even more so, as an elite athlete"

Hypnotherapy in Sports Performance

Sports professionals are more aware than ever about the desire to discover marginal gains, and Sir Dave Brailsford is someone respected within his field for finding these small yet significant gains.

He became the Head of British Cycling back in 2002, with the team having won one Gold Medal, in its 76 years history.

Fast forward to Beijing in 2008 and the major successes of the London Olympics in 2012, it is clear to see that what he did worked, with the team winning 7 out of the 10 medals on offer at each Olympics.

As a team, they developed improvements in the equipment, there was also, a focus on behavioural psychology.

For the sports professionals amongst us, many will understand the term of being in the zone, and for the sports fans, I am sure you might have heard your favourite sports star talk about being in the zone.

The zone is hard to describe, if you have never been there yourself, however, my understanding is, that it is a natural state, where everything seems to slow down, allowing the professional to find what they are doing easier than normal.

Being mentally focused is another term you will often here professionals talk about and having the ability to concentrate and visualise success in any field, not just sports is a valuable commodity.

"Hypnotherapy is a great way in which to relax, visualise and enhance the receptivity of positive suggestion"

Mindset, self-belief, and confidence are important in all walks of life, perhaps even more so, as an elite athlete, although we would all benefit from boosting this. For me, sport is one of the most watched and scrutinised professions, that is for sure, it is not uncommon for performances to dip and confidence to wane.

As I was typing this, I forgot that I have held an Olympics medal and have been lucky enough to meet the athlete who won the medal, and I was fortunate enough to hear them speak about mindset and positive visualisation.

Hypnotherapy is a great way in which to relax, visualise and enhance the receptivity of positive suggestion.

Hypnosis, can deliver natural and organic performance enhancement, allowing the sports professional to feel more relaxed, which reduces stress levels, which in turn boosts concentration, this coupled with guided visualisation, helps provide a competitive advantage, which all teams and individuals are looking for.

Most teams will employ a Sports Psychologist; however, will they possess the tools I have at my disposal, and how many Sports Psychologist have the men’s England Football Team used when it comes to penalties, perhaps someone need to let the current England Manager know they might be missing a trick.

Why choose me to help?

Around 1% of UK Hypnotherapists complete an advanced hypnotherapy qualification and whilst I am unsure of the actual numbers within each professional body, and even less so overseas, I know that this is the case with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and within my membership of the General Hypnotherapy Register. I have made the effort and investment required to complete this next phase of my professional development and can call myself an Advanced Practitioner.

In studying for my Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (NQF 6), I was fortunate enough to study with ex-Sheffield Hallam University lecturer Doctor Paul Peace, Philosophy (PHD), Psychology, and Karen Bartle who holds a master’s degree in Health/Medical Psychology.

Throughout my career as a Hypnotherapist, I have been fortunate to study with people whom I consider to be some of the best in the business and in addition to studying with Karen and Paul, I trained with Matthew Ferguson and he has worked with Olympic athletes, Doctors and Psychiatrists to name but a few professions and he has over 25 years’ experience of Hypnosis and Clinical Hypnotherapy, and he also shared some fantastic knowledge and expertise with me.

I was also, fortunate enough to study with Nick Davies who created the BLAST Technique®

The studying I completed with Nick, sees me able to resolve negative memories through eye movement, and this is one of the most valuable skills I possess. I have studied numerous times with him and there are less than 50 Advanced BLAST Technique practitioner® in the world (3/2/21), of which I am one.

In short, I have an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, I am a Master Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic programming, a skilled eye movement therapist, a qualified Advanced BLAST Technique practitioner®, as well as also being a Motivation Therapist and Coach. I have helped thousands of people and I am confident that my help will positively make a difference, however, rather take my word for this, I would encourage you to read the reviews left by others, you can do this by clicking the link below.
